Savings Accounts

All of your credit union accounts are insured with NCUA up to at least $250,000.

Membership Share Savings Account

Membership in Birmingham City Credit Union is open to city employees and their immediate family members, including spouse, dependent children and grandchildren, who are not eligible for membership in the city’s Fire Credit Union or the Police Credit Union. Requesting membership at BCCU means you meet the criteria stated, and can provide proof of the requirements when requested.

Credit union membership begins with a savings account. A $25.00 deposit opens your savings account, which establishes your membership and enables you to take advantage of all our financial products and services. It also makes you a member-owner of Birmingham City Credit Union with voting privileges. All member-owners have the same voting privileges, regardless of how much money is in their accounts.

You can make one withdrawal a month from your savings account.

Magic City Kids Savings Account

Teach children or grandchildren the value of saving with a special account just for them. Open one with an initial deposit of $25.00, and watch them get rewarded for reaching savings milestones. Or open one as a newborn gift and use it to begin saving for their college education, wedding or any future life plans.

Christmas or Vacation Club Account

Our Club Accounts allow you to save gradually for any type of annual expense. With regular contributions and competitive dividends, your nest egg will grow quickly and easily. You can make one withdraw a year with no fee, the second withdraw within the same year there will be a $10.00 fee.
